The Customer: DFINITY Foundation
DFINITY Foundation is the organization behind the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP), a decentralized computing network designed to transform how applications and digital services are built, deployed, and operated.
Unlike conventional blockchain systems focused primarily on transactions, ICP enables applications to run directly on a decentralized network, supporting computation, data storage, and web services without depending on traditional centralized cloud architectures.
This approach introduces demanding requirements for the underlying infrastructure. Performance, security, global distribution, and operational resilience must work together to support a computing platform designed for worldwide adoption.
The Challenge: Global Reach, Consistent Performance
Building a globally distributed computing network requires more than increasing infrastructure capacity.
Every additional geography introduces considerations for connectivity, latency, physical infrastructure, security, and operational coordination. For ICP, infrastructure presence in South Asia contributes to broader geographic distribution while supporting the high standards required by the network.
Three priorities define the technical requirements:
- Geographic diversity. Extending infrastructure across regions to support a globally distributed network and reduce geographic concentration.
- Predictable performance. Maintaining consistently low latency and dependable connectivity across international network environments.
- Security and operational readiness. Supporting hardware-based trusted execution environments while ensuring infrastructure teams remain responsive during routine operations and incident scenarios.
Meeting these requirements demands reliable infrastructure and the ability to sustain operational performance over time.
The Deployment: Strengthening ICP's South Asian Presence
Since January 2024, Geodd has supported ICP's regional infrastructure footprint through dedicated node operations in South Asia.
The deployment contributes to ICP's decentralized computing architecture across three key areas.
01. Geographic Expansion
The South Asian deployment contributes to ICP's global infrastructure distribution, supporting the network's presence in a strategically important region.
Geographic diversity is an important component of decentralized architecture, helping distribute infrastructure across independent locations and reduce exposure to geographically concentrated disruptions.
02. Consistently Low Latency
Performance consistency is essential for distributed computing systems, where connectivity and infrastructure responsiveness influence the behavior of network participants.
Throughout the collaboration, Geodd's infrastructure has delivered strong performance and consistently low latency, as confirmed by DFINITY Foundation's engineering leadership.
03. Trusted Execution Environments
Security is a critical consideration for decentralized computing, particularly as applications require stronger protections for sensitive workloads.
ICP operates SEV-enabled subnets using trusted execution environments (TEEs), which provide hardware-backed protections for computation.
Geodd's nodes participate in both of ICP's SEV-enabled subnets, supporting the network's most security-sensitive operating environments.
This participation demonstrates experience operating infrastructure within demanding, hardware-protected distributed computing environments.
The Results: Reliability Demonstrated in Production
The strongest evidence of infrastructure quality is its behavior over sustained production operation.
Across more than two and a half years, DFINITY Foundation has experienced no issues with Geodd's nodes, according to its engineering team's testimonial.
Beyond day-to-day operation, Geodd has responded to every regular ICP incident response drill and has never failed to act. DFINITY Foundation also confirms that requests are handled quickly and fulfilled promptly.
Together, these outcomes demonstrate sustained operational dependability, backed by direct customer experience rather than projected performance estimates.
What DFINITY Foundation Says
Geodd has been a node provider on the ICP since January 2024. Over more than two and a half years of continuous operation, they have proven to be a reliable and valued partner. Their infrastructure is high quality, delivering strong performance and consistently low latency, and we have not experienced any issues with their nodes to date. The team responds quickly to all requests and fulfills them promptly. As one example of their reliability, they have responded in every one of the regular incident response drills and never once failed to act. Their nodes are also part of both of the ICP's SEV-enabled subnets (nodes running in trusted execution environments), the most secure subnets on the network.

The Bigger Picture: Infrastructure Built for Trust
DFINITY Foundation's work on the Internet Computer demonstrates the demands of modern distributed computing: performance must remain consistent, systems must operate reliably across geographies, and security must be supported at the infrastructure level.
From South Asian geographic expansion to participation in hardware-protected computing environments, this collaboration demonstrates how dependable infrastructure operations contribute to ambitious global computing platforms.
More than two and a half years of successful operation, consistently low latency, and an uninterrupted incident drill response record reinforce a central principle: reliable computing begins with reliable infrastructure.
